PERSPECTIVES ON DESIGN EDUCATION: CURRICULAR RESEARCH, ANALYSIS AND CREATIVITY

Tóm tắt
This talk reprises several Perspectives on Learning and Teaching that I encountered while engaging degree studies in education, when I was 50 years old. I find the interplay of these perspectives enriching, particularly when focused on curricular studies developing research skills, analytical skills and creative processes, in Hanoi Architectural University’s KTT program. These perspectives are mostly applications of theories developed by social scientists focusing on learning and teaching. I use Lee Shulman’s concept of “PCK” - Pedagogical Content Knowledge, as a bridge between discussion of these educational principles as they are applied to discipline-specific learning / teaching situations in architecture school. PCK joins them in a way that I conceptualize as the “braiding” of disciplinary perspectives.
