Tóm tắt

Self-cooling concrete pavers help reduce surface temperature and, consequently, the temperature of the surrounding air layer during use. They operate based on the principle of latent heat transfer during the liquid-to-vapor phase change of the water saved from natural rainfall or artificial irrigation. In order to lower temperature according to this principle, self-cooling concrete pavers must have high water absorption capacity and release the absorbed water as vapor into the environment. The extent of water conversion from liquid to vapor phase was quantified through experimental measurements of mass transfer coefficient, surface temperature, and humidity, and then compared with results obtained from conventional sidewalk pavers used as a control under the same conditions. The results show that self-cooling concrete pavers with a double-layer structure, water absorption above 0.15 g/cm³, and capillary water absorption above 70% have a strong cooling impact. This was shown by a higher mass transfer coefficient (0.5 compared to 0.1) and a lower surface temperature at 20°C lower than that of the control sample.
