The rapid growth of e-commerce has placed significant pressure on Vietnam’s logistics system, particularly last-mile delivery. Digital technologies such as artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things (IoT), and big data are being applied to enhance operational efficiency and customer service. This study reviews the current status of digital technology adoption in Vietnam’s last-mile delivery sector with reference to international experience. Findings indicate initial progress: major firms like Viettel Post, GHN, and VNPost are deploying automation, IoT tracking, and big-data analytics. However, significant challenges persist, including high logistics costs, substantial investment requirements, limited infrastructure, and a shortage of digitally skilled human resources. The study recommends improving the legal framework, investing in digital and logistics infrastructure, strengthening workforce training, and promoting data standardization and sharing to support a sustainable digital transformation in last-mile delivery.
