Sơn mài là một chất liệu thủ công truyền thống mang giá trị thẩm mỹ và văn hóa đặc sắc, song hiện nay vẫn chưa được ứng dụng hiệu quả trong thiết kế nội thất đương đại tại Việt Nam. Đề tài tập trung nghiên cứu, hệ thống hóa và đề xuất các nguyên tắc, giải pháp ứng dụng chất liệu sơn mài truyền thống nhằm tạo điểm nhấn thẩm mỹ trong không gian nội thất, góp phần gìn giữ bản sắc dân tộc trong bối cảnh hội nhập. Bằng các phương pháp nghiên cứu điền dã, quan sát thực tế, phân tích tài liệu và thực nghiệm, đề tài làm rõ đặc tính vật liệu, kỹ thuật thể hiện cũng như khả năng phối hợp sơn mài với các vật liệu đương đại. Kết quả nghiên cứu không chỉ bổ sung cơ sở lý luận mà còn mang ý nghĩa ứng dụng cao, góp phần hỗ trợ các nhà thiết kế và sinh viên ngành thiết kế nội thất trong việc sáng tạo không gian sống vừa giàu bản sắc truyền thống, vừa phù hợp với thẩm mỹ và nhu cầu hiện đại theo hướng bền vững.

Abstract

Lacquerware represents a traditional craft material that embodies profound aesthetic and cultural values; nevertheless, its application in contemporary interior design in Vietnam remains limited. This research aims to investigate, systematize, and propose principles and strategies for incorporating traditional lacquer into interior spaces as an aesthetic focal point, thereby contributing to the preservation of cultural identity within the context of globalization. Employing fieldwork, direct observation, document analysis, and experimental approaches, the study elucidates the intrinsic material properties, expressive techniques, and the potential for integration with modern materials. The results not only enrich the theoretical discourse on lacquer application but also provide substantial practical implications, offering guidance for designers and interior design students in creating living environments that harmonize traditional identity with contemporary aesthetic and functional demands, oriented toward sustainability.
